Introducing the Connectivity Space
On the 7th and 8th of September 2021, Labforward participated in smartLAB connects, a digital event with a first-class conference program hosted by Deutsche Messe AG. Over two days, we joined other leading companies that specialize in the laboratory industry to discuss topics such as digitalization, sustainability, and the pandemic. The conference gave us the perfect opportunity to showcase our solutions and vision for the connected lab of the future. This blog highlights not only the successes of the conference but also the endless possibilities of our Connectivity Space.
SmartLAB Connects this year was an amazing experience. Not only did it give us the opportunity to showcase our Connectivity Space, but it also focused on three extremely important topics that dominate research and development currently. In the backdrop of the pandemic, science, and in particular, researchers who worked to create vaccines to combat COVID-19 were placed on the center stage. Despite SmartLAB Connects having to be virtual this year, it didn’t diminish the experience at all, though it definitely helped that we had our Connectivity Space in place so our audiences could visualize the possibilities that come with a connected laboratory.
SmartLAB Connects gave our Head of Lab, Richard Watson, a chance to demonstrate how our products and our partner’s solutions can directly help scientists carry out experiments. Over the course of the virtual tour of the Connectivity Space, three workflows were shown, firstly the laboratory management dashboard that was connected to Essentim lab monitoring sensors. Secondly, Richard demonstrated how to carry out digital SOPs with automated data collection to ensure GxP compliance. The third and final workflow was an automated Eliza COVID-19 antibody assay demonstration. What was special about this particular workflow, was that it included a robotic automated arm provided by BAhead, an eppendorf centrifuge, and a Tecan spark reader that were all automated and controlled by Laboperator.
The show emphasized how various tools and solutions could be applied to make the lives of researchers better. It demonstrated how different technical approaches within the laboratory could be combined, so laboratory teams could tailor Laboperator to be used in an endless amount of settings.
